The Outward Bound Trust of New Zealand has contracted True Vision a number of times to refurbish our stock timber buildings. Outward Bound has been around for over 50 years and our stock of legacy timber buildings built between the 1960’s and 1980’s need lots of preventative maintenance work to deal with leaks and general modifications. None of this is straightforward as most of these buildings were built in a non-standard way. True Vision has shown a real gift for integrating high quality building solutions in with the existing structures. They have been able to maintain the aesthetic character of the buildings while addressing leaks, reducing damp, opening up work areas and increasing insulation.

Examples of the projects they have worked on here include:

• Reflooring and recladding instructor accommodation and replacing skylights,
• Walling off, insulating and damp proofing a ground floor garage area,
• Recladding and reroofing a very complex roofline to resolve persistent leaking issues,
• Renovation of student equipment storerooms

Steven Koller and his team are very self-contained but at the same time excellent communicators and a pleasure to work with. They clarify what the job is and get it done quickly, efficiently and to a high standard. They consistently deliver their jobs on time, on scope and on budget. They have excellent risk management and work really well with us to reduce any potential risks and meet Health and Safety objectives. I strongly recommend them for building work.

I have known Steven Koller since 2010. We knew each other socially initially, after being introduced by mutual friends. In the last three years my husband and I have employed Steve in his professional capacity as a Master Builder to undertake and project-manage building work for us. Firstly in a conversion of our Marlborough Sounds bach, then to design and build a multi-purpose barn, incorporating workshop, stable, tack-shed and vehicle parking space. We have also employed him for the building of a horse arena and utility yards. For all these projects he has had the responsibility for employing other builders and organising contractors. We have been delighted with the results so far and have found the quality of Steve's building work to be exemplary and his attention to detail meticulous. He is tidy, punctual and an excellent communicator - when there are decisions to be made he will never make assumptions. At all times he behaves in a conscientious and professional manner. We have now asked him to commence the build of our new house in the Wairau Valley. The house is an architect designed, multi-level house, with a complicated roofline. We have the utmost faith in Steve and are confident he will meet the challenge.

My experience of Steve both professionally and socially has always been most enjoyable. He is cheerful, responsible, mature and honest - an exceptional young man who deserves every success. I have absolutely no hesitation in giving him my endorsement and recommendation.

Steve Koller and his excellent team have completed difficult and demanding building projects on our property to a very high standard, on time, and within agreed costs. In addition, the process has always been conducted with efficiency and clear and pleasant communication. All this has made the working situation a pleasure to be involved in. From the outset of each stage of each project Steve and his partners have made a careful summation of the work to be done, anticipated and provided for complications, and dealt with the inevitable unpreventable and unforeseen problems such as occur with substrata, weather, supply chains or the complexities of inspections. 

They have done this with intelligence, equanimity and flexibility which have enabled the work to proceed smoothly. Because of their skill and personalities it has been a pleasant experience to have this team on our site and to have our projects realized to the highest standard. As a group this is a team that truly works as a team and they do so with attention to detail and with a work ethic well beyond the norms of the industry. During 2013 and early 2014 we had the pleasure of Steve’s team at True Vision being involved in the renovation of a villa to be made into a medical centre in Renwick Marlborough.

Steve’s team is awesome. Professionally they were are always on task, always forward thinking and always responsive to the legalities of the build and us as the client. We felt in very good hands and the outcome is beautiful, their workmanship speaks for itself in our lovely medical centre.

On a personal level we found the workmen on site to be honest, respectful, very engaged in the project and always professional and polite, they are a credit to Steve’s leadership and a truly terrific team of young people.
